Ingredients

Onion Gravy + Bangers

  • 1/2 tbsp oil

  • 8 Onion Stout Irish Banger links

  • 1 large onion, halved and finely sliced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Mashed Potato Ingredients

  • 8 large gold potatoes

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup milk, warmed

  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Mash Your Potatoes

  1. Peel and wash your potatoes. Cut the potatoes into quarters so they are similar in size, then put them in a pot. Sprinkle with 1 tsp fine salt and add cold water, just enough to cover the potatoes. Cover and bring the water to a boil; cook for 15-20 minutes over low heat until tender. Potatoes should be soft enough to insert a fork effortlessly.

  2. Remove the water from the pot and return the potatoes to it.

  3. Using a potato smasher, mash the potatoes until very smooth. Add the melted butter to the mashed potatoes and continue to mash the potatoes. Then add the hot milk and continue mashing. Combine the butter, milk, and potatoes until very smooth. Add salt to taste and enjoy!

Cook your Bangers + Gravy

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet or fry pan over medium-high heat. Add Onion Stout Irish Bangers and cook, turning, until browned as much as possible all over and cooked through.

  2. Remove sausages and set aside. Leave the oil in the pan and turn the heat down to medium.

  3. To the pan with the remaining oil, add the sliced onion and garlic. Cook until golden brown.

  4. Add the flour and mix evenly. Then cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.

  5. Add 3/4 cup of the beef stock to the flour-onion mixture. This will form a sludge-like consistency. Then add the remaining beef stock and whisk until smooth.

  6. Bring to a simmer and continue stirring for 2 or 3 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

  7. Add salt and pepper to the gravy and stir to combine.

Plate your mashed potatoes and top with your Onion Stout Irish Bangers and onion gravy. Enjoy!
