why pastured?

Grass fed pork is higher quality, healthier, tender and delicious. It’s naturally lower in fat and higher in omega-3 essential fatty acids, vitamin E, and beta carotene.
Our pigs enjoy a varied diet combining grasses, alfalfa, clovers and root tubers from the pastures in combination with locally grown organic feed mix. The pigs spend a great deal of their time outside in the fresh air, and are free to root and graze. They’re only inside for shelter from the elements, or whenever they choose. Of course, they’re raised without the use of antibiotics and artificial growth hormones.

We raise heritage breeds of pigs because we demand high quality meat. Our Tamworth and Large Black pigs are bred and farrowed by our neighbors. These heritage breeds are selected for their ability to thrive in a pasture environment and provide a tremendous eating experience.
